COVID-19 Reopening Guidelines

Founded by owner Brett Tyack in 2017, District Cycle Store has grown to be one of Australia's premier online BMX shops. Describing himself as a "washed up BMX racer", Brett's BMX racing career started as an 8 year old novice in 1988 and finished as one of Australia's top ranked Elite cruiser (4 Australia) and 20" (11 Australia) riders in 1998. Although he hasn't race since the end of the 1990's, a BMX bike has never been too far away and his passion for all things BMX still burns as strong today as when he got his first BMX (a 1982 Repco X Gusset Hotfoot!) 35 years ago.
Located in South East Melbourne our first store was a small 55 square metre space located in Pakenhams Manhattan Arcade. Barely capable of holding 50 bikes with room to move, it quickly became clear that more space was needed and in January 2019 we moved to a larger location on John Street. Our John Street store was able to hold double the number of bikes as well as an expanded range of parts and accessories. Between instore and our online sales growth, space was once again quickly becoming an issue and in 2020 we leased a small warehouse in addition to our retail store.
In early 2020 COVID hit and changed the way retail was conducted worldwide. With retail stores closed for months at a time, we continued pouring time and resources into our online platform, launching a new and improved website in late 2020 to cater for the increase in online traffic and sales.
In 2021 with COVID still wreaking havoc on manufacturing and supply the decision was made to focus predominatly on BMX and children's bikes and once again we moved to a larger warehouse. This time combining both our online sales/warehousing and retail showroom in the one location at 1 Mepstead Close Pakenham.
Customers can pre book a day/time for a consulatation by calling Brett on 03 5918 0976 or by emailing email@example.com. Customers who arrive without an appointment may be required to wait outside if there are already customers in the showroom. Showroom access will be available 4 days a week between 11am to 4.00pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 10am to 2pm Saturday's. The showroom will be closed on Wednesdays, however click & collect will be available between 11.00am and 4.00pm. We will be closed on Sundays and Mondays.
All customers will be required to comply with all current COVID Phase C regulations in order to enter the showroom. These currently include but are not limited to:
- QR Code check in at the door prior to entry (or manual check in if a smart phone isn't owned).
- Face masks must be worn indoors by anyone aged 12 years and over. Masks will be provided if you do not have one with you.
- Social distancing measures must be followed in store. Customers must maintain a minimum 1.5 metre distance from staff at all times.
- Additionally customer temperature screening will be required prior to entry.
There will be no exceptions to these rules as Brett has a pre exisitng auto immune condition and contracting COVID-19 could be potentially life threatening.
We ask that customers please do not visit the showroom if you or any member of your family have been unwell in any way. We reserve the right to refuse entry for any individuals showing signs of being unwell.
